Die to Sin & Live to Righteousness – 1 Peter 2:24-25
The primary reason Jesus died on the cross was to pay the penalty our sin deserved, but secondly Jesus died on the cross to transform His people from sinners into saints. In this sermon Pastor David explains that Jesus died so we could be forgiven, AND so we could die to sin and live to righteousness. Christ’s sin bearing work enabled our sin-killing work.
Jesus went to the cross to, as Savior and Lord, give us the privilege of dying to sin and living in righteousness.
1 Peter 2:24–25 He Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree,
that we might die to sin and live to righteousness.
By His wounds you have been healed.
For you were straying like sheep,
but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
