Receive the Implanted Word – James 1:19-21

If the Word of God is already implanted in us how do we humbly receive it? If it’s already in you why received it again? In this sermon pastor David reminds us that as Christians we continually need the truth of the Gospel message and the transformation God brings about through His Word.

Ultimately James wants his readers to humbly receive the Word, but in order to get there he starts with how we hear one another, because the way we listen to people determines whether or not we will listen to God. If we are quickly angered and unwilling to listen to others, we will likewise be resistant to hearing the Word of God.

Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; 20 for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God. 21 Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted Word, which is able to save your souls.
