The Purpose of Scripture – John 5:37-39, 46
What’s the main point of the Bible? If we misunderstand what the Bible is for, it’s easy to misuse it. So we should ask, do we know why the Bible was written? What’s it for? John 5:39 give us the answer. In this sermon Pastor David examines the implication of Jesus statement that the Scriptures testify about Him. The Bible is primarily about Jesus.
37 And the Father who sent Me has Himself borne witness about Me.
His voice you have never heard, His form you have never seen,
38 and you do not have His Word abiding in you,
for you do not believe the One whom He has sent.
39 You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about Me.
46 For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for he wrote of Me. (John 5:37-39, 46)
